There was chaos in the earthquake affected area
Earthquakes in Afghanistan over the past four days have killed nearly 2,200 people. Survivors in the quake-hit region are struggling to access basic amenities, while the United Nations and other agencies warn of a dire need for money, food, medical supplies and shelter, with the World Health Organization calling for $4 million in funding.
2205 people died till Thursday
The latest tremors come after two earthquakes have devastated the South Asian country, which is struggling with war, poverty and dwindling aid. The Taliban administration estimated 2,205 people had died and 3,640 injured as of Thursday.
Continuous tremors were felt in Nangarhar province
A witness said continuous tremors were felt in Nangarhar province and details of the damage were still being collected. The GFZ said Friday's 5.4-magnitude quake struck at a depth of 10 kilometers (6.2 miles) southeast, hours after the quake late Thursday.
