News Topical, Digital Desk : On the occasion of completion of nine years of Uttar Pradesh, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath underlined the comprehensive changes in the education system at the launch program of the 'School Chalo Abhiyan' organized on the holy land of Kashi on Saturday.
Speaking at a program held at the Composite School in Shivpur, the Chief Minister said that before 2017, the state's council schools were in a dilapidated state, lacking basic facilities and showing no interest in studies among children. Many schools were on the verge of closure, and enrollment was steadily declining.
The dilapidated school before 2017, now equipped with modern facilities
Sharing his experiences, the Chief Minister explained that there was a time when a school had fewer than 10 students, but thanks to the efforts of the government and the hard work of the teachers, that same school has now become an example of progress with over 250 students. He said that education is not just a means to obtain certificates, but a powerful tool to contribute to nation-building by inculcating values in individuals.

More than 600,000 schools have been equipped with basic amenities. Schools now have toilets, drinking water, furniture, blackboards, and a clean environment. NITI Aayog has also recognized Uttar Pradesh's efforts as one of the most successful education initiatives in the country.
1.36 lakh schools transformed through Operation Kayakalp
The Chief Minister said that the Nipun Bharat Abhiyan has increased children's interest in basic education, while Bal Vatika programs for children ages 3 to 6 are being provided through Anganwadi centers. The government has so far enrolled more than 6 million new children and significantly reduced the dropout rate.

The CM also stated that the government is sending funds directly to parents' accounts through DBT for uniforms, shoes, socks, bags, and other essential items for each student. While the supplies previously cost ₹800, they now cost ₹1,200 per student. Additionally, nutritious meals are being provided to children in schools under the Midday Meal Scheme, which has led to increased attendance.
Nipun, Bal Vatika and DBT strengthen the foundation
The Chief Minister also mentioned efforts to expand Kasturba Gandhi Girls Schools to Class 12, establish Atal Residential Schools in every district, and provide quality education to laborers and destitute children. He said that the state government is spending approximately 80,000 crore rupees annually on education.
Mid-day meals and facilities have increased the attraction of children
During the program, the Chief Minister appealed to teachers, education friends, and instructors to go door-to-door to connect children with schools and make the "School Chalo" campaign a mass movement. He said that it is the responsibility of every person in society to ensure that no child is deprived of education.
