There is a problem in the NDA regarding seats.
Chirag Paswan's party has called this meeting at a time when the NDA is embroiled in a deadlock over seat-sharing. Efforts are underway to persuade Chirag Paswan. According to sources, Chirag Paswan wants 36-40 seats, but has been offered 20-22 seats. Sources believe Chirag is adamant on his demand.
Only one MLA won in 2020
Chirag Paswan was not part of the NDA in the last assembly elections. Chirag Paswan fielded candidates in 135 seats in Bihar, but the party won only one seat. Candidates' deposits were forfeited in 110 seats.
What did Chirag Paswan say on seat sharing?
On Wednesday (October 8), Chirag Paswan reached his ancestral village. Here, he paid tribute to his late father and LJP founder Ram Vilas Paswan on his death anniversary. On seat sharing, he said, "I want to make one thing clear: the talks are going well, and I believe the right decision will be taken at the right time. As soon as the discussions are complete, they will be shared with you. But the repeated accusations that Chirag is angry are wrong. Chirag Paswan has only one demand: to put Bihar first and Biharis first. Chirag's demand is not about any post, nor is it about displeasure with anyone, nor is it about anyone's seats."
The first phase of elections in Bihar is scheduled for 121 seats in 18 districts on November 6. The last date for filing nominations is October 17.
