News Topical, Digital Desk : The whole world is troubled by China's aggressive attitude. The dragon is not ready to accept anything. Sometimes Taiwan, sometimes Philippines, sometimes something else... Now China has once again done the same audacity. Satellite pictures show that China has landed two H-6, considered to be its most advanced bomber aircraft, on the disputed Paracel Islands in the South China Sea. Maxar Technology provided two photos to Reuters, showing two H-6s on the same runway at Woody Island on May 19. Another photo also shows two Y-20 transport aircraft and a KJ-500 early warning plane.
H-6 resembles Soviet design
China developed the H-6 by copying the US B-52 development. Although it resembles the Soviet design, it is China's longest-range bomber aircraft. It is equipped with state-of-the-art weapons as well as better engines and modern flight systems.
The H-6 serves as a force protection mechanism for the PLA. According to the London-based International Institute for Strategic Studies, China's Southern Theater Command maintains two regiments of the bombers and is housed in heavily fortified bases where they would have greater protection from US strikes in the event of a conflict.
China claims the area
- Let us tell you that China claims sovereignty over almost the entire South China Sea, including areas claimed by Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Taiwan and Vietnam. This is the first time since 2020 that H-6 bombers have landed on Woody Island in the Paracels. This is being seen as a sign of China's growing military capabilities.
- Meanwhile, the Shangri-La Dialogue Forum is going to start in Singapore, in which French President Emmanuel Macron will participate. US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth is also going to present the Trump administration's view on this region. Earlier, H-6 bombers were deployed for war exercises near Taiwan in October.
