  • Nahay-Khaay: The grand festival of Chhath begins with Nahay-Khaay, which falls on March 22. On this day, devotees take a bath and then consume pure, satvik food, pumpkin rice.
  • Kharna: The second day is called Kharna, which falls on March 23rd. In the evening, a prasad of jaggery pudding and roti is prepared on a clay stove. This is the beginning of the 36-hour waterless fast.
  • Evening Arghya: On the third day, arghya is offered to the setting sun, which this time will be offered on March 24. On this day, devotees go to the ghats and sing songs in praise of Chhathi Maiya and worship the Sun God by serving fruit and thekua in a bowl.
  • Usha Arghya and Parana: Chhath concludes with the offering of Arghya to the rising sun on the fourth day, which this year will be on March 25. After the offering, devotees break their fast by partaking of Prasad.
