New Delhi: When a woman travels alone in a train, she remains very worried. The female passenger worries about what she will do if she faces any problem during the journey or how she will go home if she reaches the station at night. Keeping all these problems of female passengers in mind, Indian Railways has started a campaign on the theme 'Meri Saheli'.

This campaign has been started by the Railway Protection Force (RPF). Even before this, Indian Railways has started many campaigns keeping in mind the safety of women.

About 'Meri Saheli' campaign

Under this campaign, RPF provides security to women passengers. In this, the RPF team keeps an eye on those women passengers who are travelling alone. RPF also contacts women who travel for long distances. RPF tells women passengers that in case of any problem, they can contact helpline number 182.

According to media reports, under the Meri Saheli scheme, RPF collects the details of women passengers traveling alone. After this, these women passengers are contacted. Meri Saheli team is present at every station. One team gives information about the women passenger to the other team, so that after the train arrives at the station, the RPF team contacts the women passenger. If the women passenger faces any problem, then the RPF team tries to solve that problem.

RPF has started this campaign so that women traveling alone feel safe. If any woman passenger faces difficulty in going home, then a woman constable takes her home.
