New Delhi: An update has come regarding the next meeting of the GST Council. This meeting will be held on 9 September 2024 (Monday). The GST Council has given information about this meeting on the social media platform.

As per the ex post GST Council, the 54th meeting of the GST Council will be held on 9 September 2024 in New Delhi.

In this meeting, along with Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, the finance ministers of the states will also be present. All these people will take many important decisions regarding GST in the meeting. Let us tell you that on July 1, 2017, the GST Council was implemented to take decisions regarding Goods and Services Tax (GST).

A decision can be taken regarding the tax slab

The GST Council meeting is expected to take decisions on rationalising rates, reducing tax slabs and changing duties.

The meeting is expected to initiate discussions on rationalising rates, reducing tax slabs, besides removing duty inversion under GST. In the last meeting held on June 23, 2023, Nirmala Sitharaman had said that in the next meeting of the GST Council, the Group of Ministers (GoM) on rate rationalisation led by Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Sumant Choudhary will make a presentation on the status of the work and the aspects involved.

Whether there is a draft report or not, there will still be a presentation by the GoM. After this presentation, the Council will start discussing rationalisation of rates in the next meeting.
