New Delhi: The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) decides the bank holidays. According to the RBI's holiday list, all banks will remain closed every Sunday of the month. Apart from this, banks will also remain closed on the second and fourth Saturdays of the month. Today is the third Saturday of September, which means all banks will work smoothly. But, this is not the case. Even today, banks in many cities are closed.

Where and why are banks closed today

According to the central bank's bank holiday list (RBI Bank Holiday List), today there is a bank holiday in Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram. Banks are closed on the occasion of Sri Narayana Guru Samadhi Day.

Are the banks in your city closed?

As we mentioned above, only the banks of Kerala are closed. This means that the banks of all other cities will remain open as usual. Normal functioning will continue in all these banks.

Many bank services remain operational even on bank holidays. You can use ATM and Net Banking services on bank holidays.

When will the banks remain closed in October (October Bank Holiday List)

The month of October is about to start. There are many festivals this month too. RBI has released the Bank Holiday List for October (Bank Holiday List October 2024). According to the bank holiday list, banks will remain closed for a total of 15 days in the month of October. Banks across the country will remain closed on national holidays like Gandhi Jayanti.  

Why are holidays different in all cities

Apart from weekly holidays, banks are also closed on festivals. In such a situation, on the occasion of regional festivals of every state, the banks of that state remain closed. Now the regional festivals of every state are different. Due to this, the bank holidays of all the states are also different.
