Patna. Chirag Paswan has expressed displeasure over the Supreme Court's decision on reservation. Chirag Paswan has said that LJP (Ram Vilas) is going to file a review petition against this decision.

Citing cases of discrimination against Dalits, Chirag said that even today Dalits are discriminated against on the basis of caste. Even today, youth from the Dalit community are prevented from riding a mare. They are not allowed to worship in temples.

Chirag further said that there are many big names who hold big positions, but if they go to the temple, the temple is washed with Ganga water.

Untouchability is the basis of reservation: Chirag

On the decision to deprive the creamy layer of the benefits of reservation, Chirag said that the basis of reservation given to scheduled castes is untouchability and not economic.

Chirag further said that the basis of reservation provision in the Constitution has been untouchability, hence there cannot be any provision for creamy layer in it.

What is the decision of the Supreme Court?

The Supreme Court gave a historic verdict on reservation last Thursday and approved the classification of SC-ST reservation. After this verdict, quota can be created within the existing reservation quota.

The court has also stressed on the need to identify and exclude the creamy layer from the reservation of SC, ST categories.

After the decision of the Supreme Court, sub-classification can be done in the reservation given to SC, ST to provide benefits to those classes which have been deprived of the benefit of reservation of the same category.

For example, those castes of SC category which have remained more backward and have not been able to get the proper benefits of reservation till now, they do not have adequate representation in government jobs, they can be given priority in the same quota through sub-classification so that the benefits reach them and they can be uplifted.
