News Topical, Digital Desk : Uttar Pradesh annually celebrates the glorious day of its founding as "Uttar Pradesh Day" on January 24th. This year, the Uttar Pradesh Day 2026 program is being organized under the theme "Developed India - Developed Uttar Pradesh." This three-day event will be celebrated across the state from January 24th to 26th and will serve as a medium to disseminate the state's progress to the public.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has clearly said that this event should not remain just a government programme but should become a public festival, in which participation of every citizen of the state is ensured and along with the cultural diversity and vibrant soul of the state, a glimpse of its development journey should also be given.
The main celebration of Uttar Pradesh Day 2026 is being held at the newly constructed Rashtra Prerna Sthal campus in Lucknow. Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah inaugurated the event as the chief guest . Along with dignitaries from across the country, public representatives from the state were also specially invited.
Along with the main event in Lucknow, cultural programs, development exhibitions, and public participation events will be held locally in all districts of the state. The main event will also be broadcast live across the state via Doordarshan, enabling everyone to participate in this UP Day celebration.
ODOC scheme will become the main attraction
This year, the highlight of Uttar Pradesh Day will be the "One District, One Cuisine" (ODOC) scheme announced by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Under the ODOC scheme, a traditional and famous dish from each district of the state has been selected. This special event will feature all the ODOC dishes from across the state within a single complex.
This initiative will not only showcase the diversity of Uttar Pradesh's cuisine but also strengthen local cultural identity. It will serve as a medium to establish the flavors of Uttar Pradesh as Uttar Pradesh's identity. Additionally, on the occasion of Uttar Pradesh Day, artisan products will be exhibited and sold under the "One District, One Product" (ODOP) scheme. Additionally, GI-tagged products will also be displayed in a trade show-like manner.
UP Gaurav 2025-26 Award Distribution
As every year, the "Uttar Pradesh Gaurav Samman 2025-26" will be presented at the Uttar Pradesh Day celebrations. This year, the honor will be presented to five individuals who have achieved significant achievements in education, literature, agriculture, women's empowerment, and space science.
Additionally, districts that excel under the Chief Minister's Youth Entrepreneur Development Campaign will also be rewarded. On this occasion, the Chief Minister will formally launch the "One District, One Cuisine" (ODOC) scheme and the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Employment and Industrial Zone scheme.
Various exhibitions and cultural events
On the occasion of Uttar Pradesh Day, special exhibitions and craft fairs will be organized based on the theme "Developed India - Developed Uttar Pradesh." These will showcase progress in various sectors, including infrastructure, industry, agriculture, women's empowerment, and self-reliant India. Cultural performances will be organized based on folk, classical, and contemporary art forms.
The events of the statewide Sanskriti Utsav 2025-26 will also be integrated into this program. Winners of exhibitions and cultural programs held in each district will be honored. Additionally, special exhibitions will be held to commemorate Mission Shakti, innovation, and the 150th anniversary of "Vande Mataram." Additionally, outstanding youth, entrepreneurs, women from self-help groups, artists, athletes, and individuals associated with Panchayati Raj, social welfare, rural development, agriculture, and labor will also be honored.
Events at home and abroad
In accordance with the vision of the double-engine government, this year, UP Day 2026 will be celebrated beyond state and national borders. Under this initiative, UP Day 2026 events will be held in Lok Bhavans across various states. Additionally, UP Day will be celebrated in Indian embassies in Fiji, Mauritius, Maldives, Singapore, and Thailand.
The MSME and Tourism Departments have provided mementos for these events, honoring Uttar Pradesh citizens residing in these countries and states. In this program, various state ministers, MPs, and MLAs will represent the state, introducing the culture and progress of Uttar Pradesh to the people of these countries and states and inviting them to participate in the state's development journey.
Significance of public participation and celebration
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed that Uttar Pradesh Day 2026 be the largest platform for public participation, showcasing the state's culture, cuisine, crafts, and development journey. This celebration will prove to be a source of pride and inspiration for every resident of the state. Following the Chief Minister's instructions, the state's Tourism, Art, and Culture Department, in collaboration with the Lucknow Development Authority (LDA), has nearly completed all preparations to ensure a dignified, disciplined, and grand UP Day celebration.
This event will not only celebrate Uttar Pradesh's rich heritage but also strengthen the resolve for a "Developed India - Developed Uttar Pradesh." Celebrated with enthusiasm and zeal across the state, Uttar Pradesh Day 2026 will present a vibrant picture of the state's unity and progress. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Governor Anandiben Patel will also be present on this occasion.
Additionally, State BJP President Pankaj Chaudhary, both Deputy Chief Ministers Keshav Prasad Maurya and Brajesh Pathak, Tourism and Culture Minister Jaiveer Singh, and several other dignitaries will attend the event. Other prominent guests will include Rajya Sabha members Brij Lal and Sanjay Seth, Lucknow Mayor Sushma Kharkwal, and honorable state legislators.
