Firing at Old Dominion University

Old Dominion University Police Chief Garrett Shelton said at a press conference Thursday afternoon that officers received reports of gunfire in a classroom in Constant Hall, the university's business school building. Officers arrived at the scene after receiving reports of the attack.

The university initially reported two people were injured, but Shelton later said officials learned a third person was also injured, who went to the hospital on his own. It wasn't immediately clear how the attacker died.

Shelton said it has not been confirmed whether an officer fired the shots. He added that all three injured were affiliated with the university. Shelton said authorities are still in the very early stages of the investigation and have not yet determined the full cause of the shooter's death.
