News Topical, Digital Desk : Violating the ceasefire agreement reached in Doha, Pakistan once again launched midnight airstrikes at seven locations in Afghanistan. Pakistan launched these attacks around 12:30 a.m., with the first attack targeting a madrasa in the city of Barmal in Afghanistan's Paktika province.
Following the missile attack by the Pakistani Air Force, debris from the madrasa was visible everywhere. Religious books kept in the madrasa were also destroyed during the month of Ramadan, as locals were seen displaying them after the attack. In addition to Barmal in Paktika province, the Pakistani army also carried out airstrikes on Urgun, Khogyani, Ghani Khel, Behsud city, and two towns in Khost.
This is Pakistan's fourth air strike on Afghanistan since September last year and the second air strike by Pakistan on Afghanistan after the ceasefire was declared in October 2025 under the mediation of Qatar and Turkey.
What Pakistan said about the attacks:
Pakistan's Ministry of Information and Broadcasting issued a statement claiming that Pakistan had attacked a total of seven Tehreek-e-Taliban (TTP) and ISKP camps in Afghanistan. Pakistan further stated that the terrorist attacks on the Imambargah in Islamabad, Bajaur, and today's attack in Bannu were all orchestrated by their handlers based in Afghanistan, which is why Pakistan carried out the attacks in Afghanistan.
Suicide attack in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa:
In the Bannu area of Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Tehreek-e-Taliban's proxy group, Majlis-e-Aksar Caravan, carried out a major suicide attack on a Pakistani Army vehicle using a motorcycle. Four soldiers, including Lieutenant Colonel Shahzada of the Pakistani Army, were killed. Last Thursday, the TTP attacked a post of the Pakistani paramilitary Frontier Corps located at the Malang Madrasa in the Mamund tehsil of Bajaur district, killing 14 soldiers.
The Afghan government's reaction
to the Pakistani attacks has not yet been released by the Afghan government. It remains to be seen what the Afghan government's version of the Pakistani airstrikes reveals, as Pakistan previously carried out three airstrikes in Afghanistan between September and November, purportedly targeting TTP hideouts. Instead of terrorists, 71 innocent Afghan civilians lost their lives, including players from Afghanistan's domestic cricket team, 18 children, and 27 elderly people.
