A Bengaluru man came into contact with the fraudsters through social media. The fraudsters claimed they had coins depicting Rama and Lakshmana, which possessed magical powers. Whoever found these coins would have a change in fortune.
This is how those selling 'magic coins' were caught
The fraudsters then agreed to a deal for 1 lakh rupees and called the man to a bus stand in the Nagamangala area of Mandya district. The man arrived, and the fraudsters handed him coins depicting Lord Rama and Lakshman. They then hurriedly left. The buyer of the coins became suspicious and raised an alarm. Onlookers then apprehended the two fraudsters and handed them over to the police.
One accused fled from the spot
Nagamangala police have arrested the accused, Yashwant Rao and Sudhir, while another accomplice remains at large. Police are trying to determine how many more people these accused have duped with the promise of a lucky coin.
Greed is the biggest weapon of thugs
This incident once again proves that fraudsters still easily trap people in the name of greed. Timely suspicion and the vigilance of local residents led to the capture of the fraudsters. This case serves as an example to the public that blindly believing in any magical power or claim of changing one's fortune can prove costly.
