Within just 72 hours, the police solved the robbery and arrested two of the accused. This incident has raised questions about the station's security system. This incident occurred on Monday night (December 29). Following the incident, the victim, businessman Dheeraj Kumar, filed a complaint with the GRP police station. Following the complaint, the railway police arrested both the criminals and recovered ₹19 lakh in cash from them. The arrested accused are Deepak Jha and Raja Kumar.
This was revealed during police interrogation
During interrogation, it was revealed that the two ran a water business at Patna Junction. Under the guise of this, they began committing crimes such as snatching and fraud. In a complaint filed at the GRP police station, businessman Dheeraj Kumar stated that he had sent his brother-in-law, Deepak Kumar, from Vaishali to deliver silver jewelry to Santosh Devkar, owner of Raj Tancha in Bakarganj, Patna.
After handing over the jewelry, Deepak was returning to Patna Junction with a bag containing ₹22.50 lakh. A man in police uniform approached Deepak and, citing the evening, took him from platform number 1 to platform number 6 to check his bag.
The criminals then took him to an empty carriage of a train parked on platform number 7. Another accused was already present there. They intimidated Deepak, searched his bag, took out 22.50 lakh rupees from it, and fled.
GRP SP gave this information
Railway Superintendent of Police Inamul Haq said the arrested accused have been identified as Raja and Deepak Jha. Deepak Jha is a resident of Khusrupur, while Raja is from the Karbighhia area. Both had been selling water at Patna Junction for the past three months and were living in a rented room in the Karbighhia area.
On the night of the incident, the accused suspected the victim was carrying a bag containing alcohol. Posing as policemen, they tricked the victim into taking them to a train stationed on the platform. They then intimidated him and took the money from his bag.
The accused came in police uniform
The accused were wearing khaki police jackets and had saved a number on their mobile phones with the name of a GRP station officer, using it to intimidate the victim. Police recovered ₹9 lakh from Raja and ₹10 lakh from Deepak. Raids are ongoing to recover the remaining amount. Due to the large amount, the Income Tax Department has also been informed, which is conducting its own investigation.
