One of these problems is a very serious condition - Dead Butt Syndrome . If you also spend more than 8 hours a day sitting in one place, then it is very important for you to know about Dead Butt Syndrome.

What is dead butt syndrome?

  • Dead butt syndrome occurs when the thigh muscles don’t function properly due to prolonged sitting.
  • This happens when the buttocks muscles don’t function properly and actually go to sleep.
  • Due to sitting for a long time, these muscles go into passive mode. In such a situation, the body forgets to activate them.
  • This is why dead butt syndrome is also known as gluteal amnesia.
  • The muscles of the hips are the largest muscles of the body. They play an important role in most of our body movements. When they do not work due to sitting for a long time, then the burden of their work falls on other parts of the body such as knees, back etc. This puts unnecessary pressure on the muscles of these parts.

Symptoms of Dead Butt Syndrome-

  • Due to sitting for a long time, the muscles of the buttocks become numb. Or they may start to hurt.
  • In severe cases, the pain may become intense and may also lead to stiffness in one or both hips, along with the knees and back.
  • The severe pain may radiate down to the legs and may feel like sciatica pain.
  • You will begin to lose strength in your glutes and hip flexors.
  • This pain may increase if you lie on the side where there is pain in the hip.
  • The way of walking may also change due to pain.
