News Topical, Digital Desk : The country's general budget is being presented in Parliament today, Sunday (February 1, 2026). Poet Kumar Vishwas has given a measured response to this. Speaking to the media, he said, "I urge Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman to present a budget that does not burden the public with tax collection, and that when that revenue is used for public welfare, the entire country is happy. I hope this budget will prove very beneficial for Indians, especially the middle class and farmers."
Citing a story, Kumar Vishwas said that the budget should be made like the Suryavanshis. Just as the sun absorbs water from rivers, oceans, ponds, and glasses, but when it rains, it pours equally on all. Similarly, he urged the Finance Minister to take everyone into consideration.
Finance Minister is presenting the budget
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman's budget speech begins in Parliament at 11 am. It is believed that the budget will contain several major announcements. At the outset, she announced the creation of a banking committee to ensure financial stability and protect consumer interests. She also announced the construction of mining corridors in Odisha, Kerala, and Chhattisgarh. A national fiber plan will also be implemented for silk, jute, and wool. The Finance Minister also announced the construction of 22 new waterways in the country.
Akhilesh Yadav had taunted
Earlier, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav reacted sharply to the general budget, saying, "What hope can there be from a government that has no expectations?" He also accused the government of failing to implement several previous projects. He cited water-related deaths in Indore and polluted air in Delhi.
