Ganesh Mahotsav is celebrated every year with pomp and devotion. This festival symbolizes the birth of Lord Ganesha, which lasts for a full 10 days. It is believed that by fasting during this time (ganesh chaturthi 2024), all wishes are fulfilled and blessings of Ganesha are received. At the same time, when such a holy time of the year is going on, let us know about a temple of Lord Ganesha, whose miracles are discussed far and wide.
Cowdung Ganesh Dham is facing south
Actually, we are talking about the south facing cow dung Ganesh, Maheshwar temple, where all the wishes of the devotees are fulfilled by visiting once. It is located in Maheshwar, Madhya Pradesh. It was built by Ahilyabai 250 years ago. This is the only temple of Bappa where there is his cow dung idol.
It is said that the idol installed here is 900 years old. Since it is a cow dung idol, it is known as Gobar Ganesh. The outer part of this holy place is in the shape of a mosque. Also, the inside of the temple is like a Sriyantra.
The eternal flame has been burning for 12 years
It is said that during the reign of Aurangzeb, an attempt was made to demolish this Dham and build a mosque, due to which its shape is like a dome. In this temple of Lord Ganesha, his wives Riddhi and Siddhi are also seated with him.
At the same time, an eternal flame has been burning here for the last 12 years, which has a special significance of its own. According to religious beliefs, all the bad works of the devotees who come to this holy place and take the blessings of Bappa are solved. Also, all obstacles come to an end.
