On the day of October expiry series, there was selling pressure in the market. Both major indexes - Sensex and Nifty closed with a decline. There was selling in midcap stocks as well. At the end of the session, there was a slight recovery in this index but it could not last long. Talking about the sectoral front, there was pressure in IT, banking, FMCG stocks. Auto, realty and PSE indices closed on a decline. Pharma, infra, smallcap indices closed on a rise.

Today's sell-off in the market was seen after poor signals from global markets. IT stocks were subdued after guidance and commentary from Capgemini. Infosys was under the most pressure. However, Nifty was successful in saving 24,200. The midcap index also closed in the red. But, comparatively, it was seen outperforming the major index.

After a full day's work on Thursday, Nifty closed 135 points down at 24,205. Sensex closed 553 points down at 79,389. Nifty Bank closed 332 points down at 51,475. Whereas, Nifty Midcap index closed 226 points down at 56,113 today.


Which stocks saw action Cipla was the fastest stock in Nifty. This stock closed 9% higher after getting VAI classification from US FDA for Goa facility. L&T also closed with a gain of about 8% after the second quarter results. The company has maintained guidance for the financial year 2025. Auto stocks closed mixed just before the release of October sales data. After strong results, profit booking was seen in AB Capital and this stock closed down 6%. Vodafone Idea was the fastest stock in midcap. On the day of expiry, this stock closed with a gain of about 6%. After positive commentary, Tata Power closed 5% better from the lower levels. How was the market this week? This week the market had mixed trading. Nifty and Sensex saw a slight increase on a weekly basis. But there was underperformance in the broader market. Midcap index and Nifty Bank closed with a gain of about 1%. On a weekly basis, 33 out of 50 Nifty stocks closed in the green. This week, Adani Enterprises, L&T, Eicher Motors, SBI & BEL topped the list of Nifty's fastest stocks. On the other hand, Tech Mahindra, Infosys, HCL Technologies and Maruti Suzuki topped the list of Nifty's weakest stocks.

During Samvat 2080, Nifty managed to create record levels in 78 sessions out of a total of 242 sessions. During this period, tremendous returns were seen in the market. In Samvat 2080, Nifty and Sensex closed with a gain of 22-25%. Except media, all other sectors remained in the green. Sectoral indices saw tremendous growth of 14-75%.
