Astana: Indian Foreign Minister S Jaishankar met his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi in Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan. Jaishankar has arrived in Astana to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) meeting. Jaishankar also held a bilateral meeting with him. During this, various issues were discussed between the two leaders.
What issues were discussed?
Jaishankar has told about his meeting with Wang Yi. He said that he met Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in Astana this morning. During this, the early resolution of the remaining issues in the border areas was discussed. Efforts will be increased in this direction through diplomacy and military.
The Foreign Minister also said that it is necessary to ensure peace in the border areas while respecting the LAC. Mutual respect, mutual sensitivity and mutual interest will strengthen our bilateral relations.
Also met Russian Foreign Minister
Earlier, Jaishankar had met with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov. In this meeting, Jaishankar raised the issue of return of Indians trapped in the Russia-Ukraine war. Also, the agenda of the India-Russia summit to be held in Moscow next week was also discussed between PM Modi and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Jaishankar wrote on Twitter, 'Met Foreign Minister Lavrov in Astana. We discussed in detail everything from bilateral relations to contemporary global issues. I have strongly raised the issue of safety of Indians trapped in the war. I have stressed on the safe return of those Indians. We also exchanged views on other issues.'
PM Modi to visit Russia next week
