New Delhi: Even before Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar reached Islamabad, Pakistan has started putting pressure on India. In the last two days, Pakistan has not only raised the issue of Kashmir but has also tried to indirectly blame India for the political instability in its country.

However, it has already been made clear by India that Foreign Minister Jaishankar's visit to Pakistan this week should not be linked to the relations between the two countries. Despite this, Shahbaz Sharif's government is trying to raise those issues which are not acceptable to India.

Pak sang the Kashmir raga

Many foreign delegations, including from Russia, China, have started arriving to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) meeting to be held on October 15-16, 2024. The Indian Foreign Minister will reach there on Tuesday morning to attend the meeting.

Pakistan Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar told reporters in Islamabad that Kashmir is a priority issue for Pakistan along with Gaza. He was informing about the decisions taken in the cabinet meeting led by PM Sharif. However, he also clarified that there is no bilateral meeting with Indian Foreign Minister Jaishankar.

Is Pakistan diverting attention?

A day earlier, Dar had accused the main opposition party PTI and a 'neighboring' country of conspiring to disrupt the SCO meeting. India has not officially reacted to both these statements. Experts say that the Sharif government is making such statements to divert attention from internal challenges.

Jaishankar will stay in Pakistan for two days

Right now the Pakistan administration is facing many challenges. Not only Imran Khan's party PTI has started a big movement, but the Pashtuns have also started a big movement in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Sources in the Ministry of External Affairs said that Foreign Minister Jaishankar will reach Islamabad on October 15. He will stay there for two days. He will also have bilateral meetings with the leaders of some countries but there will be no talks with the Foreign Minister of Pakistan.

Indian Foreign Minister's visit after nine years

After nine years, an Indian foreign minister is visiting Pakistan. Earlier in December 2015, the then foreign minister Sushma Swaraj had gone to Islamabad to attend a meeting. However, Swaraj had met the then PM Nawaz Sharif and also held bilateral talks with the foreign minister there.

A few weeks later, PM Modi also attended Sharif's wedding on 25 December 2015. But after this, there was constant tension in the relations between the two countries. Later, an air strike was also carried out on terrorist bases in Pakistan. After the abolition of Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir in August 2019, the relations have deteriorated further.
