Russia launched a massive missile and drone attack on Ukraine's power plants on Christmas. A thermal power plant was damaged in the attack and people had to take shelter in metro stations on Christmas morning. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that more than 70 missiles, including ballistic ones, and more than 100 drones were used in the attack.

Russia is targeting energy centers

The Ukrainian military said it had shot down 59 Russian missiles and 54 drones. Russia has stepped up attacks on the Ukrainian energy sector since spring this year, damaging about half of Ukraine's power generation capacity.

 

The Ukrainian Air Force said Kharkiv was attacked with ballistic missiles. Regional Governor Oleh Sinyhubov said on Telegram that civilian non-residential infrastructure was damaged.
