In the suicide case of a woman industrialist, SIT has arrested a DSP rank woman officer of CID. On 22 November last year, a woman businessman named S Jeeva committed suicide. Kanakalakshmi, a woman police officer and posted as DSP in CID, was accused of instigating her to commit suicide.

Actually, S Jeeva's name cropped up in the Karnataka Bhovi development scam. It was alleged that there was a scam regarding funds in the board formed for the welfare of Bhovi caste. S Jeeva had supplied furniture for the board and it was alleged that the board bought furniture from him at many times higher price and Jeeva gave commission to the board members.

He committed suicide by writing an 11-page suicide note

The investigation of the case was handed over to the CID and S Jeeva was also questioned as an accused. During this time, the DySP was accused of torturing Jeeva. Jeeva committed suicide by writing an 11-page suicide note, in which it was claimed that he was being harassed in the name of interrogation. In his suicide note, Jeeva accused the female police officer Kanakalakshmi that in the name of interrogation, he was forced to remove his clothes in front of everyone and a bribe of lakhs of rupees was also demanded from him.

An FIR was filed against Kanakalakshmi in the Jeeva suicide case. The allegations against her were found to be true during the investigation, after which she was arrested today.

What is Bhovi Vikas Nigam scam?

There were allegations of illegal transfer of funds worth more than Rs 10 crore by misusing public documents to provide loans worth lakhs of rupees to entrepreneurs in the 2021-22 financial year under Bhovi Nigam's scheme. In 2023, FIRs were filed in Bengaluru, Bengaluru Rural and Kalaburagi on the allegation that some officials of the corporation had stolen more than 200 files including accounting files, cash books, project files, bank cheques to hide the matter. Later, the Karnataka government ordered the CID to investigate the matter.
