A YouTuber arrested in an attempt to murder case in Thrissur, Kerala had to be taken to a mental health centre as he became mentally upset after his hair was chopped off in jail, jail officials said on Friday. Mohammed Shaheen Shah, 26, has been sent to judicial custody for attempting to run over college students with a car, officials said.

YouTuber is under the supervision of doctors

A senior official said that his hair was cut as per the jail rules. After this, he appeared mentally disturbed after which he was admitted to a hospital in Thrissur. He said that he is currently under the supervision of doctors. The Thrissur police arrested him on Tuesday from Kodagu in Karnataka, where he was hiding. He was absconding since the incident which took place on April 19, 2024. The police arrested the accused and produced him in a local court. The court sent him to Thrissur District Jail in judicial custody for 14 days.

Trying to hit the students

YouTuber Mohammed Shaheen Shah is a resident of Ernelur in Thrissur. Mohammed Shaheen is the owner of the YouTube channel 'Manavalan Media' and his channel has 14 lakh subscribers. On 19 April 2024, on the day of Thrissur Pooram festival, this 26-year-old YouTuber got into a fight with some students of Kerala Varma College. It is alleged that after this Mohammed Shaheen Shah chased the students and tried to hit their scooter. During this time, some of his companions were also present in the car with the YouTuber. The students said that YouTuber Mohammed Shah himself was driving the car.

When the matter reached the police station, Mohammed Shaheen Shah absconded. When he did not return home for a few months, the Thrissur West Police issued a lookout notice against him on December 24. After this, the Thrissur City Shadow Police arrested him from Kodagu on Tuesday (January 21).
