Kallakurichi. Many people have lost their lives due to consumption of poisonous liquor in Kallakurichi, Tamil Nadu. 29 people have died and more than 60 people are said to be in critical condition due to consumption of poisonous liquor. Kallakurichi District Collector MS Prashanth met the people undergoing treatment at the Government Medical College Hospital of the district.

Chief Minister MK Stalin also expressed grief over the incident and said that action has been taken against the officials who failed to prevent it. Stalin has expressed his grief through a post on X. He said, I was shocked and saddened to hear the news of the death of people due to drinking adulterated liquor in Kallakurichi.

Strict action will be taken against the officers

Stalin further said, in this case, the people involved in the crime have been arrested. Also, action has been taken against the officials who failed to stop it. 

He said, 'If the public gives information about the people involved in such crimes, immediate action will be taken against them. Such crimes that ruin the society will be crushed strictly.' Let us tell you that Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi expressed grief over the deaths and wished the victims a speedy recovery.

'He is in a critical condition and is battling for life and death'

Governor RN Ravi said, 'I am deeply shocked to know that many people lost their lives in Kallakurichi due to consumption of spurious liquor. Many others are battling for life and death in critical condition. My heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and I wish speedy recovery to those admitted in hospitals.'
