PM Modi along with President Anura Kumar Disanayake also visited Jai Shri Maha Bodhi Temple located in Anuradhapura. Here the chief priest of the temple tied a protective thread on the hand of Prime Minister Modi. Let us tell you that this temple is the center of spiritual and cultural importance between India and Sri Lanka. There is a Bodhi tree in the temple. It is believed that Sanghamitra, daughter of Emperor Ashoka, brought the plant from India. This tree has been prepared from her.
