According to Sky News, the reason for the riots was the child care agency taking away local children. According to a restaurant owner, people protested against taking away local children. According to the BBC report, initially the agency workers and children were seen on Laksar Road, after which the riot took place.

Harehills becomes a battlefield

According to the Daily Mail report, Harehills looked like a war zone in the morning. The mob of rioters was continuously committing violence and setting fire at many places across the area. After the violence, police force was deployed at every corner.
