Srinagar. Amidst the ongoing election activities in Kashmir, Union Home Minister Amit Shah is reaching Srinagar on Thursday. With this, various political speculations have also gained momentum in the valley. It is being said that his visit is focused on the elections going to be held in Baramulla and Anantnag parliamentary constituencies, but the BJP has denied this.
He further said that he is coming to take stock of the current situation in Kashmir by meeting representatives of various social, business and religious organizations. The Home Minister is expected to take stock of the security scenario, but the concerned officials have not confirmed the meeting.
He is just a scapegoat for the central government- Kashmiri Pandit Sangharsh Samiti
Meanwhile, the Kashmiri Pandit Sangharsh Samiti expressed its disapproval for not being given the opportunity to meet the Home Minister and said that are we mere scapegoats for the Central Government, who are used only to get votes or to show that the situation in Kashmir is normal.
BJP spokesperson Altaf Thakur said this
A senior official of the state administration said that Shah is reaching Srinagar at 6 pm. Before returning to Delhi on Friday afternoon, he will meet various public delegations of Kashmir and understand the ground situation. He may participate in the security review meeting, but this meeting has not been finalized yet. State BJP spokesperson Altaf Thakur said that apart from representatives of Gujjar-Bakarwal, Pahari community, delegations of various business, social and religious organizations will meet the Home Minister.
Apart from some youth organisations, representatives of civil society are also scheduled to meet the Home Minister. He will return on Friday. Sources said that Shah's visit is related to Baramulla and Anantnag parliamentary constituencies. In many places in Srinagar parliamentary constituency, workers of People's Conference have reportedly not supported Jammu Kashmir Apni Party. In Baramulla and Anantnag parliamentary constituencies, workers of Apni Party may go against People's Conference.
BJP workers are campaigning here
The position of our party in Anantnag seat also does not seem to be the same as before. In both the seats, Gujjar-Bakarwal and Pahari voters play a decisive role in the victory or defeat of any candidate. BJP is not contesting the elections on both the seats, but it is indirectly supporting its party in Anantnag and People's Conference chairman Sajjad Gani Lone in Baramulla seat. BJP workers can be seen campaigning in support of our party and People's Conference.
Against NC-PDP-Congress
The Home Minister will discuss the electoral equations for Anantnag and Baramulla parliamentary seats in the meeting and decide the strategy to defeat the NC-PDP candidates. Shah had said during his Jammu visit last month that although the BJP is not contesting elections in Kashmir, it is against the politics of nepotism and urges the public to vote for those who are against the NC-PDP-Congress.
