How to Check Coconut Water : If there is one thing that gives the most relief in the summer season, then it is the cold and sweet water of raw coconut. It not only hydrates the body, but also provides nutrition and energy. Coconut water contains natural electrolytes, such as sodium, potassium, magnesium, phosphorus and calcium. It is also full of minerals, anti-oxidants and vitamins, which are considered a panacea for health.
All these have many benefits for the body. But when you buy raw coconut from the market, you get confused whether it has water or not, and if yes, then how much water will it have. Don't worry, here we are telling you some easy tricks, by which you can guess without cutting the coconut how much water is there in it and whether it is good or not.
How much water is there in a raw coconut?
On an average, a coconut contains 200 to 400 ml of water. This water depends on the age, variety and thickness of the coconut. According to this, it is estimated how much water can be there in a coconut.
Tricks to find water in coconut
1. Hear the sound by shaking
Bring the coconut close to your ear and shake it. If the sound of splashing from inside is loud and clear, then understand that there is plenty of water. If the sound is very low or faint, then it may be that there is less water or it has dried up.
2. Feel the weight
A good raw coconut feels heavy in the hand. If it feels light, it is possible that it has less water. Avoid buying such a coconut, otherwise you may feel cheated.
3. Press the shell lightly
Sometimes the outer shell of a coconut is soft. If possible, press its shell lightly. If a sound comes on pressing lightly and if you feel the movement of water from inside, then that coconut is watery.
4. Look closely at the top
If the 'eye spot' of the coconut i.e. the upper round end looks fresh and cut, then it is fresh and will contain water. An old coconut will look dry and rotten from the top.
5. Compare two or three coconuts
If you are buying coconut from a vegetable market or a street vendor, always pick up two or three coconuts and shake them and choose the heaviest and loudest one comparatively. In this way, you can estimate the amount of water in the coconut.
