The recent diplomatic tussle between India and Canada (India-Canada Relations) is due to the freedom given to separatist and extremist elements in Canada. The Union Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) made this statement on Friday. Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh gave this information in response to a written question in the Lok Sabha.

 

The Ministry of External Affairs also rejected the allegations levelled against India by the Canadian government and expressed hope that the two countries can re-establish relations based on mutual respect and sensitivity.

 

India accuses Canada

The Union Minister said that the Government of India has consistently appealed to Canada to take immediate and effective action against all anti-India elements active in its country. These elements include glorifying the murders of leaders, threatening Indian leaders and diplomats, and insulting and vandalizing places of worship.

Union Minister Kirti Vardhan Singh said that the Government of India is in constant dialogue with the Government of Canada to address concerns regarding the activities of anti-India elements in Canada.

 

Canada's interference in India's internal affairs

 

The Indian government also alleged that Canada was continually interfering in India's internal affairs, thereby encouraging illegal migration and organised criminal activities.

 

Rejecting the allegations levelled against India by the Canadian government, he expressed hope that the two countries would re-strengthen relations on the basis of mutual respect and sensitivity.
