Diwali is associated with Goddess Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth. Both spending and earning money on this day is considered auspicious. Given this importance, the stock market also has special trading on this day called Muhurat trading. This year, both BSE and NSE will hold Muhurat trading sessions on Friday, November 1 from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
The stock market will not open at 9:15 am - the markets will remain closed during the day. This evening session allows investors to make token investments while following a long-standing tradition of trading during Diwali.
Historically, i.e. checking the data, it is clear that Muhurat trading sessions have often been bullish, even though trading volumes are usually low. In the last 16 years, the Sensex and Nifty closed with a green mark i.e. a gain in 13 of the Muhurat trading sessions. History of Muhurat Trading Over the years - Muhurat trading days have shown a consistent rise. There was a gain of about one percent in the year 2022. There was a growth of 0.5 percent in the year 2021 There was a growth of 0.47 percent in the year 2020 There was a growth of 0.37 percent in the year 2019 There was a growth of 0.7 percent in the year 2018 There was a decline of (-0.6 percent) in the year 2017 There was a decline of (-0.04 percent) in the year 2016 There was a slight decline of (-0.3 percent) in the year 2012.
