The US has strongly reprimanded the head of the interim government of Bangladesh, Mohammad Yunus, for the violence against Hindu minorities in Bangladesh.
US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan spoke to Yunus on phone on Monday. Sullivan instructed Yunus to ensure the safety of Hindus in Bangladesh. Yunus has also agreed to this.
The White House issued a statement in this regard and said, 'Both the leaders have expressed commitment to protect and respect the human rights of people of all religions.' Many meanings are being drawn from this call made by the Biden administration to Bangladesh before the transfer of power to Donald Trump.
Jaishankar reached America
India's Foreign Minister S Jaishankar is also on a 6-day visit to America from today. India has strongly raised the issue of violence against Hindus in Bangladesh. It is believed that Jaishankar will raise this issue in America as well.
But as Jaishankar's flight took off, his phone started ringing in Bangladesh. Yunus was reprimanded in America, and he agreed to provide security. This is being considered as the result of India's big diplomatic innings.
American MP also demanded
Indian-origin American MP Shri Thanedar had also raised the issue of atrocities against Hindus in Bangladesh. He had also demanded the White House to intervene in this matter.
Thanedaar had said, 'America has a history of raising its voice against oppression. We should not hold back this time too in raising our voice for human rights. We should talk to Prime Minister Mohammad Yunus and demand to establish peace and build a country based on the principles of equality and justice.'
Violence is not stopping in Bangladesh
Violence against Hindus in Bangladesh is not stopping. In the last two weeks, there have been deadly attacks on minorities and especially Hindus. Utsav Chakraborty, Executive Director of Hindu Action, said that whatever happened in Bangladesh in the last five and a half months shows that the Mohammad Yunus government has failed.
Chakraborty said that the people of Jamaat-e-Islami are burning temples, killing people, raping women and imprisoning and torturing Hindu priests and leaders.
