The government has given a big shock to diesel customers in Karnataka. The price of diesel has increased by Rs 2 per liter due to the increase in sales tax in the state from 18.44 percent to 21.17 percent. This change, effective from April 1, 2025, has brought the new price to Rs 91.02 per liter. Let us tell you that property tax was also increased in the state and the prices of electricity and milk were also increased. The government is defending this decision citing the need for revenue to fund infrastructure and public welfare projects.

 Kumaraswamy attacked the Karnataka government

The opposition has also targeted the Karnataka  government over the increase in prices of essential commodities. Union Minister HD Kumaraswamy on Tuesday accused the Siddaramaiah government of Karnataka of turning into a 'price rise demon' and said that it is sucking the blood of the people. In a statement, he said, 'From today, the Congress Company government is imposing cess even on garbage. It is sucking the blood of the people.' He accused the state government of cheating and continuously increasing prices. He sarcastically said, 'This is the ruling style of the Karnataka East India Congress Company government. From today, the Congress Company government is imposing cess even on garbage.'

'Even Gori and Ghaznavi would have been ashamed of the Congress government'

Let us tell you that the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike i.e. BBMP presented its budget for 2025-26 on Saturday which has been prepared under the 'Brand Bengaluru' concept. It has also proposed to impose property tax as well as solid waste management user fee from 2025-26. Kumaraswamy alleged that the state government is using its so-called '5 guarantees' as an excuse to increase prices. He said, 'But its real intention is nothing but to loot the people. Even robbers like Mahmud Ghaznavi and Muhammad Ghori would have been ashamed of the inflation being imposed on the Kannada people by the Congress government.'
