UP News:  Under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, the state government has issued subsidy to eligible women in Uttar Pradesh to refill gas cylinders before Holi. In this regard, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath himself handed over cheques to some of the eligible women at a program in the capital Lucknow. According to the information, the government has spent Rs 1,809 crore for this subsidy issued for 1.86 crore families of the state.

After releasing the subsidy, the Chief Minister said something in his address which made people laugh and the hall echoed with applause. CM Yogi said, 'Earlier, it was very difficult to get a gas connection. One had to pay a bribe of 25 to 30 thousand rupees to get a gas connection. In such a situation, even if one got a gas connection, he could not get cooking gas. There was a lot of shortage during festivals. There were many people who felt that they would not get cooking gas and if there is a rolling pin in the house, then who would get beaten with the rolling pin.'

CM Yogi said, 'Those people knew that if guests came to the house during the festival and the cooking gas ran out, then their respect would be at stake, then how would food be cooked at home? How would dishes be prepared? People were worried about this problem. In such a situation, if they went there and tried to be a bit political, then they would be beaten by the police. Either they would get beaten up by the police or they would get beaten up at home. To get rid of this problem and to save the eyes of mothers from smoke, Prime Minister Modi started the Ujjwala Yojana.
