On this day Goddess Dhumavati descended on earth. This festival is celebrated on the eighth day of Shukla Paksha in the month of Jyeshtha. This year this festival will be celebrated on Friday, June 14, 2024. On this day people worship Goddess Dhumavati and seek her blessings.

This date holds great importance for the people of Sanatan Dharma, as it is said that praying to Mata Dhumavati brings an end to all the problems in their lives. According to Hindu sacred texts, Goddess Dhumavati is considered the 7th of the 10 Mahavidyas and the fiercest form of Goddess Durga, but as fierce as the form of the mother is, her heart is equally pure.

Dhumavati Jayanti 2024 Puja Vidhi

It is believed that by worshipping Goddess Dhumavati on this day, all the wishes of a person are fulfilled. In such a situation, devotees should wake up before sunrise on this day. Those who want to fast, should take a vow of fasting in front of the mother. Install the idol of the goddess on an altar. Anoint the goddess with Panchamrit, Gangajal and pure water. Apply kumkum tilak to the mother. Offer makeup and clothes to her. Dedicate incense sticks, flowers and other things to the mother. Light a ghee lamp in front of the mother. Offer fruits, sweets etc. to her. Chant the Vedic mantras of the mother. Conclude the puja with Aarti.

Do not use Tamasik things during the Puja. According to Hindu customs , offering black sesame seeds wrapped in a black cloth on this day fulfils the desired wishes. Ask for forgiveness for the mistakes made during the Puja.
