In this sequence, on the Saptami Tithi of Chaitra Navratri, the Nagarvadhu dances amidst the burning pyres at Manikarnika Ghat. It is believed that at this place where the last rites of a person are performed, they offer their devotion to Baba Masan Nath through dance, due to which they attain salvation in the next birth. On this day, Baba Masan Nath was worshipped and Aarti was performed as per the rituals and as per the tradition, the Nagarvadhu also danced amidst the burning pyres.
A unique tradition was observed at Manikarnika Ghat on the day of Chaitra Navratri in the holy city of Varanasi. On this day, Nagarvadhus were dancing amidst the burning pyres. People present there were also watching this scene with great surprise that while on one side people were cremating their relatives, on the other side Nagarvadhus were dancing and offering their devotion to Baba Masananath. It is said that by performing this type of tradition, Nagarvadhus attain salvation in the next birth. People were also seen capturing this scene in their mobile cameras.
The tradition has been carried on for hundreds of years
Many events are organized in Varanasi. In the same sequence, this unique tradition is also being organized for hundreds of years. People from Kashi as well as from far-flung districts and states reach Varanasi's two main ghats, Manikarnika Ghat and Harishchandra Ghat, to cremate the bodies of their relatives. In such a situation, people are surprised to see this event held on Saptami of Chaitra Navratri.
