News Topical, Digital Desk : South Korean lawmakers, citing a spy agency report, have revealed that North Korean leader Kim Jong Un may choose his daughter, Kim Ju Ae, as his successor. There is speculation that Kim Jong Un wants to establish his daughter as the country's fourth-generation leader.
South Korean lawmaker Lee Seong-kwon told reporters after a secret meeting of the intelligence agency (NIS) that earlier the NIS only talked about presenting Kim Ju Ae as the successor, but today it is being said that he is being appointed the successor internally.
According to a Reuters report, the NIS will closely monitor whether Kim Ju Ae attends a meeting of the ruling Workers' Party on Wednesday and how she is presented at the event, including any possible designation she may receive.
Who is Kim Ju Ae?
Little is known about Kim Ju Ae, although she is currently reported to be 13 years old. The world learned about her in 2013 when American basketball star Dennis Rodman made a controversial visit to Pyongyang, the North Korean capital. He later told The Guardian, "I held her baby daughter, Ju Ae, and also spoke with (Kim's wife)." Experts believe Kim Jong Un has three children, and Ju Ae is the middle one, but this has not been confirmed.
Teenage Ju Ae first appeared in public during the test of an intercontinental ballistic missile in 2022. Since then, she has been seen with her father at several government events, CNN reported. In January, Kim Ju Ae was seen with her father during a test launch of a large-caliber multiple rocket launch system.
She is believed to have made her first foreign trip in September, when she traveled to Beijing by armored train with Kim Jong Un to attend Xi Jinping's military parade. According to the BBC, Kim Ju Ae has been seen wearing designer clothing that is beyond the reach of most North Koreans.
