Govardhan Puja is a celebration of respect for nature
CM Dr. Mohan Yadav said that Govardhan Puja is a celebration of respect for nature. Cow and Ganga are the only things on earth that are very dear to God. India cannot be imagined without them. Cow and Ganga are the soul of Indian culture and civilization. They are nurturers and saviors too. Cow-woman is described in Vedas, Puranas, Upanishads, Smriti-Granthas, Ramayana, Mahabharata and literature. Cow is described as Surabhi, Kamdhenu, Acharya, Yagyapadi, Kalyani, Ijya, Bahula, Kamdudha, age of the world, mother of Rudras and daughter of Vasus.
The cow, which is full
of all the gods, has been declared as unkillable in the Vedas. In the Shree Yug, the most dignified man Shri Ram had donated a cow before going to the forest. In the Dwapar Yug, Shri Krishna spent his childhood with cows and gave the message of the importance of cow to India. In the Skanda Purana, Kamdhenu has been praised by the three goddesses Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh.
