Due to these increasing cases, it has been decided to postpone the India Day celebrations. Actually, India celebrates independence from British colonialism on 15 August.

Indian expatriates living around the world organize events in their respective places to participate in this celebration. In Ireland, this event is organized by the Ireland India Council. This organization works to promote relations between India and Ireland.

Prashant Shukla, co-president of the cultural and trade association of the organisation, met Ireland's Deputy Prime Minister Simon Harris. After this meeting, he addressed the media and informed about the postponement of the programme. He said that the circumstances are not favorable at this time to celebrate India Day.

This program was scheduled to be held on Sunday. Various cultural programs are presented in this festival organized in collaboration with the Irish government. Prashant Shukla said that the decision to postpone the program was very difficult, but this step had to be taken for the safety of the Indian community.

Last week, a six-year-old girl of Indian origin was attacked and abused in south-eastern Ireland. In Dublin, two passengers attacked an Indian taxi driver with a broken bottle and asked him to go back to his country.
