News Topical, Digital Desk : US President Donald Trump sharply criticized Europe's policies at the World Economic Forum's annual meeting in Davos, Switzerland. Trump said that European countries are not moving in the right direction.

Trump's statement comes at a time when differences between the US and Europe are deepening on trade, security and global issues.

America is the economic engine of the world

In his speech, Trump described America as the "economic engine of the planet." He also referred to the changing identity of parts of Europe, saying that Europe was not moving in the right direction.

From the Davos stage, he stated bluntly, "America is the economic engine of the world, and when America booms, the whole world booms. This has been history."

He further said, 'I love Europe and I want Europe to do well, but it is not going in the right direction.' Trump stressed that America cares about the European people.

Europe has deep historical ties. However, Trump's criticism could create new challenges in Europe-US relations.

Tight on China

Speaking in Davos, Trump took a jab at China. He questioned China's green technology industry. He said that China is fooling the world in the name of green energy.

Trump sarcastically said that wind farms in China are built only for show, so that other countries can agree to buy them.

Claim to Greenland and threat to NATO

In Davos, Trump renewed his long-held ambition to control Greenland, a territory held by Denmark, and told world leaders that only the United States can secure it.

"We are a major power, much bigger than people realize," he said, describing NATO ally Denmark as ungrateful for US help in protecting Greenland after World War II.

Trump spoke of discussing a potential US takeover of Greenland with European allies. He argued, "It's only the United States that can protect this giant piece of ice, develop it, and improve it so that it's good for Europe and safe for Europe and good for us."
