The head of the last government of Bangladesh, Mohammad Yunus, said that he wants to further strengthen his relations with Pakistan. Yunus's statement has come at a time when Bangladesh's relations with India are not in a good state.

Let us tell you that Pakistan and Bangladesh were one country earlier. But after the fierce war of 1971, Bangladesh became a new nation. India had contributed to the formation of Bangladesh. This is the reason why the relations between Bangladesh and India were very strong since then.

Relations deteriorated after student protest

But relations between Bangladesh and India broke down after student protests against Sheikh Hasina in Dhaka. Sheikh Hasina was considered a supporter of India, but now she is living here in exile.

During a meeting with Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif in Egypt, Yunus said he wanted to resolve grievances linked to the bloody conflict of 1971. "This issue comes up again and again. Let's resolve it and move forward," Yunus told Sharif.

Discussed many issues with Sharif

After this meeting, Shahbaz Sharif said that he had a warm discussion with Yunus. He wrote on social media- 'We discussed bilateral and multilateral issues in depth.'

A statement issued from Yunus' office said in this regard that 'both the countries have decided to move forward with the exchange of trade, commerce, sports and cultural aspects to strengthen their relations.'

In November, after several decades, a Pakistani cargo ship unloaded its goods at the Chittagong port.

Yunus also spoke on SAARC countries

Yunus also said that he wants to revive the SAARC organization. In fact, SAARC almost ended after the tension in relations between India and Pakistan. Yunus told Sharif that this should be a priority. I want a SAARC summit, even if it is just a photo session.

Both the heads of state had gone to participate in the Cairo Summit of D-8 countries formed for economic cooperation. D-8 is an organization of Muslim countries, which includes Pakistan, Bangladesh, Egypt, Indonesia, Iran, Malaysia etc.
