Bangladesh Chief Advisor Mohammad Yunus said that the whole world should know that Bangladesh is united and whatever it has achieved recently was through joint efforts, according to a report in the Dhaka Tribune.
Yunus sought suggestions from all political parties so that Bangladesh can move on the right path without any mistakes, the Dhaka Tribune reported.
Fictional stories being spread about Bangladesh- Yunus
In a discussion with political parties at the Foreign Service Academy, Yunus said that a fictional story is being spread about Bangladesh which is not limited to one country but extends to other big countries as well. He stressed that it is important to prove this perception wrong and establish the truth through joint efforts.
He said many people do not like the 'new Bangladesh', reports Dhaka Tribune. He said the government is open to foreigners to come and see the ground situation.
Yunus stressed the need for unity for national interest and said that they (those campaigning against Bangladesh) are very powerful in terms of resources and systems.
Briefing the press after the meeting, legal adviser Asif Najrul said the main message of the meeting was that they would remain united for the sake of the nation's interest, sovereignty and existence. "We will never deviate from this," he said.
Bangladesh is united against propaganda- Nazrul
Nazrul said there was no reason to think of Bangladesh as powerless, weak and submissive and Bangladesh would remain united against any propaganda. "We will maintain our unity," he said, adding that the whole country was united against "India's propaganda."
The talks, held at the Foreign Service Academy, were attended by Advisors Adilur Rahman Khan, Mahfuz Alam and representatives of various political parties, including the BNP and Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami.
Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, Moin Khan, Syed Najrul Islam Khan, Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury and AZM Zahid Hossain were among the BNP leaders.
Jamaat Ameer Shafiqur Rahman, Ganosamhati Zonaid Saqi, Mahmudur Rahman Manna of Nagorik Oikya and Nurul Haque Noor and Rashed Khan of Gono Odhikar Parishad also attended the meeting.
The statement comes following sharp criticism from several world leaders in Bangladesh following the arrest of ISKCON priest Chinmoy Krishna Das.
US Congressman Brad Sherman on Tuesday issued a statement calling on Bangladesh's interim government to protect its Hindu minority and address the ongoing protests by Hindus and minority communities against recent attacks and persecution.
