Workers of former Pakistan PM Imran Khan's party have ended their protest in the capital Islamabad. PTI supporters were agitating for the release of former PM Imran Khan. The army had to be deployed in Islamabad to control this protest that lasted for two days.
A statement was issued by the Interior Ministry on this matter in the morning. In this statement, it was told that the law enforcement force in Islamabad has cleared the main road. Meanwhile, in this entire matter, Pakistan's Home Minister Mohsin Naqvi told reporters that Imran Khan's wife Bushra Bibi and top leaders of Khan's party, including Ali Amin Gandapur, who were leading the protest, fled from the area.
PTI's performance ends
PTI workers were agitating for the release of Imran Khan. During this, they demonstrated for two days in the capital Islamabad. On Tuesday, this demonstration turned violent. The army had to be called in to control the situation. It is reported that after the overnight action, PTI supporters withdrew their demonstration.
On Wednesday, an MP from Imran Khan's party wrote in a text message that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf has withdrawn the protest following the government's brutal crackdown.
Several security personnel died
The protests that began on Sunday took the form of violence on Tuesday. The situation started going out of control, after which the army had to be deployed in Islamabad. At least six people, including four security officials, have died in the clash between protesters and security personnel. During the protest, thousands of Khan's supporters tried to break the security barricades on the roads, due to which they clashed with the security personnel.
Hundreds of protesters arrested
It is worth mentioning that PTI supporters had gathered near the so-called Red Zone on Tuesday. During this time, they had announced to stage a sit-in. They had announced that this sit-in will continue till the release of Imran Khan. Let us tell you that more than 150 cases ranging from corruption to misuse of power are registered against Imran Khan. Currently, he is in jail.
Search operation continues
Pakistan's Information Minister Ataullah Tarar told the media that the search operation is still going on. He said that a large number of protesters who staged a sit-in in Islamabad demanding the release of Imran Khan from jail have been arrested. He further said that the main demonstration area has been cleared and all barricades will be removed on Wednesday.
