Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav has resigned from the Karhal Assembly after being elected MP from Kannauj. Now there is a discussion going on in SP about who will be the Leader of Opposition after Akhilesh. The decision on the Leader of Opposition in Samajwadi Party will be taken after the special session of Parliament. The session of Parliament is starting from 24 June. The leader of the opposition will also be from the PDA

Keeping in mind the 2027 assembly elections, the party wants to give this responsibility to a leader who can strengthen the BJP in the House. In the Lok Sabha elections, the SP's 'PDA' (backward, dalit, minority) formula has performed well, so it is expected that the leader of the opposition will also be from the PDA.

Initiative of these three names

The names of National General Secretary Shivpal Yadav, Ram Achal Rajbhar and Indrajit Saroj are prominent in the race for the Leader of Opposition. With the Leader of Opposition being decided in the Legislative Assembly, the name of the Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Council will also be decided.

The churning going on in the party

SP's chief spokesperson Rajendra Chaudhary says that the leader of the opposition will be decided, the party is deliberating. The legislature is not in session right now, so there is no urgency.

Mata Prasad or Om Prakash can be the chief whip

SP also has to appoint a chief whip in the Vidhan Sabha. Earlier, Unchahar MLA Manoj Kumar Pandey was on this post. He has rebelled against SP and has now joined BJP.

The party is again considering giving this post to a Savarna MLA. The names of former Vidhan Sabha Speaker and Itwa MLA Mata Prasad Pandey and former minister and Jamania MLA Om Prakash are prominently being considered for this post.
