News Topical, Digital Desk : A very strange incident took place on Monday in Balasore district of Odisha. Here 7 coaches of a coal laden goods train coming from Bhadrak to Balasore suddenly got separated from the moving train. This entire incident happened near Markona railway station. An hour after this incident, the engine of the train had to return and the separated coaches had to be reconnected. Let us know about this entire incident.

What is the whole matter?

Actually, a goods train loaded with coal was going towards Baleshwar. Then suddenly near Markona station, 7 coaches attached to the rear of the train got separated and stopped on the track. The engine of the train kept moving ahead without these separated coaches. Railway employees and local people present there were also shocked to see this scene. The most relieving thing was that no one was injured in this incident and neither there was any damage.

How was the situation handled?

Soon after the coaches got separated, the railway employees swung into action and the situation was brought under control. Within about 1 hour, the train engine returned, the coaches were reattached and the goods train moved forward on its scheduled route. This entire process of stopping and reattaching the train was done with great patience and caution.

What was found out in the investigation of the incident?

Initial investigations suggest that there was a technical fault in the coupling system that connects the coaches, which led to the separation. Such incidents are rare, but it shows how important it is to periodically inspect and maintain freight trains. Train services on this route were not affected much due to the swift action of railway employees. No passenger train had to be stopped or diverted.
