News Topical, Digital Desk : More than 300 children were kidnapped at gunpoint from a Catholic school in Nigeria. Now, 50 of them have escaped, eluding their kidnappers, a Christian group shared the information on Sunday.
Kidnappers attacked St. Mary's Co-educational School in Niger State on Friday, abducting approximately 303 students and 12 teachers. Last Monday, 25 secondary schoolgirls were also kidnapped in Nigeria's Kebbi State.
The church was attacked
On Tuesday, attackers also attacked a church in Kwara State, which was broadcast live online. Panic gripped the church. Amid the gunfire, screams and cries were heard everywhere. However, the return of the children has brought some relief.
The President also confirmed
"Today we have received good news. 50 students have escaped from the clutches of kidnappers and have returned to their parents," the Christian Association of Nigeria said in a statement.
The children abducted by the kidnappers range in age from 8 to 18, including both boys and girls. President Bola Tinubu also shared a post, saying, "51 of the missing students from a Catholic school have been recovered."
