. Meanwhile, on the death of 17 people in Amritsar due to consumption of poisonous liquor, ADGP Arpit Shukla said, "The police have registered a case of murder. 10 accused have been arrested. One of our teams has also gone out of the state. We hope that the team will catch more people. DSP and SHO have been suspended."
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann wrote on his official X handle, "Sad news has been received about the death of many people due to drinking poisonous liquor in the villages around Majitha. These killers of innocent people will not be spared at any cost. These are not deaths, but murders."
'The culprits will definitely be punished' - Bhagwant Mann
CM Bhagwant Mann claimed that these culprits who created an atmosphere of mourning in people's homes by poisoning their homes with poisonous liquor will be given the harshest punishment according to the law. He further wrote, “I pray to God for the peace of the departed souls. The government stands with the victim families and every possible help will be provided.”

Meanwhile, Punjab DGP informed through social media platform X that Punjab Police took immediate action after the deaths caused by fake liquor. 10 people including the kingpin of the racket and several local distributors were arrested. These people used to buy methanol online to make fake liquor. Investigation is underway to bring all those involved to justice.
The DGP said that the Punjab Police is firm in its commitment to dismantle the illegal liquor network and hold negligent officers accountable. We will all ensure that such tragedies are prevented in the future.
