New Delhi: To deal with the damage caused by the floods, the central government has released an advance assistance of Rs 5,858 crore from the National Disaster Relief Fund to 14 states including Bihar and West Bengal. The damage has been assessed by the central inter-ministerial team in many states including Assam and Mizoram and soon the team will also visit Bihar and West Bengal.

Assistance amount will be released

Additional assistance will be released after receiving the report of the inter-ministerial team. Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah said that the Central Government under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi is standing shoulder to shoulder with the people of the states affected by natural disasters in reducing their difficulties.

Bihar got Rs 656 crore

According to the Home Ministry, Rs 656 crore was released from the National Disaster Relief Fund to Bihar, Rs 468 crore to West Bengal, Rs 1492 crore to Maharashtra and Rs 189 crore to Himachal Pradesh. Apart from this, assistance has also been given to Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Gujarat, Kerala, Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, Telangana, Tripura.

Rs 14,958 crore to 21 states

A senior official said that the inter-ministerial team has assessed the damage in Assam, Mizoram, Kerala, Tripura, Nagaland, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Manipur. The team will visit other states soon. More than Rs 14,958 crore has been released to 21 states as central disaster assistance.
