News Topical, Digital Desk : The big news of the moment is coming from Srikakulam district of Andhra Pradesh. A stampede broke out at the Venkateshwara Swamy temple in Kashibugga on the occasion of Devuthani Ekadashi. The number of devotees in the temple premises suddenly increased, causing chaos. At least 10 devotees are reported dead in the stampede. Additionally, reports of several people being injured are also emerging. 

Relief and rescue work continues

Clear information about the number of injured and dead has not been revealed. The condition of some of the injured is serious, due to which the death toll may increase further. Currently, ambulances have also reached the spot and the injured have been admitted to hospitals. Police team has also reached the spot. Relief and rescue work is being done. According to the information, the temple was started about four years ago by a devotee named Mukund Panda, which was opened only a few months ago. According to the information received at present, the temple is on the first floor and a person fell near the stairs due to the railing breaking and a stampede broke out.

CM expressed concern

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu expressed his condolences over the incident. In a post on Twitter, the Chief Minister wrote, “I am deeply shocked by the stampede at the Venkateswara Temple in Kashibugga, Srikakulam district. The loss of lives in this tragic incident is heartbreaking. I express my deepest condolences to the families of the deceased. I have directed officials to ensure prompt and proper treatment for the injured. I have requested local officials and public representatives to visit the site and oversee the relief operations.”

PMO announced compensation

PM Modi has also expressed grief over the incident. A post on Twitter from the PMO said, “Deeply saddened by the stampede at the Venkateswara Swamy Temple in Srikakulam, Andhra Pradesh. My condolences are with those who lost their loved ones. I pray for the speedy recovery of the injured. An ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh each will be given to the next of kin of the deceased from the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund. Rs 50,000 will be given to the injured: Prime Minister Narendra Modi.”

President expressed condolences

President Draupadi Murmu expressed condolences over the incident. According to a post on Twitter, President Draupadi Murmu wrote, “Shocked to learn about the loss of life and property in the tragic incident at the Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple in Srikakulam, Andhra Pradesh. I express my deepest condolences to the bereaved families and pray for the speedy recovery of the injured.”
