Plane Crashes In Brazil:  A small plane carrying people crashed on Sunday (December 22, 2024) in Gramado, a tourist city in southern Brazil. Reports have revealed that 10 people traveling in the plane have died. According to the Public Security Office of the state of Rio Grande do Sul, at least 15 people were taken to the city hospital, most of whom were suffering from the fire and smoke from the accident. 

Officials in the area said the plane reportedly first hit a chimney of a building and then the second floor of a house. After this, it hit a furniture shop. After the accident, the debris of the plane also reached a nearby inn. At the same time, the city's governor Eduardo Leite said in a post on the social media platform X, "Unfortunately, initial reports indicate that the people on board the plane did not survive."

Accident at Christmas time

Gramado, in Rio Grande do Sul, is one of Brazil's most popular tourist destinations. The city was hit hard by floods earlier this year that killed dozens of people, destroyed infrastructure and hampered the state's economy. The accident comes just days before Christmas, a particularly busy time for the city. 

41 people died in bus accident

At the same time, a bus accident took place in Brazil in which 41 people lost their lives. This accident also happened on Saturday in south-eastern Brazil. President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva called this accident a terrible tragedy. A day earlier, 38 people had lost their lives in it. The Federal Highway Police called it the worst accident on the country's highways since 2007.
