Supporters of the former ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) will again take to the streets today demanding the release of the former PM. Thousands of PTI supporters from the provinces of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sindh and Punjab may reach Islamabad. PTI supporters have decided to hold a rally at 3 pm. At the same time, the Pakistani administration is afraid that this rally may create a situation like May last year.
The administration cancelled the NOC for holding the rally
The PTI has announced to hold the jalsa in the federal capital today (Thursday) despite the cancellation of the no objection certificate (NOC) earlier given to the party founded by Imran Khan. In a statement, the Interior Ministry said the decision was taken to ensure the safety of students in the federal capital.
Decision to keep all educational institutions closed
In view of the rally, the Islamabad district administration has decided to keep all public and private educational institutions closed on Thursday for security reasons.
It is our constitutional and legal right to wage political struggle
In a statement on Wednesday, PTI Islamabad President Amir Mughal said that the district administration has cancelled the notification, but we have not cancelled the gathering. It is our constitutional and legal right to carry on political struggle in a peaceful manner.
